Living Life on Purpose

I’ve known for a very long time that every one of us has a God-given purpose – there are very specific things you and I were designed to accomplish that no one else will do. It’s true that others may be doing things that are similar to what you’re meant to do, but no one is going to do it exactly like you. No other person has your unique perspective, experience or creativity. No one else will touch the lives of the same people you do the way you do. Only you have a unique ability to make the specific impact you are meant to make with the specific people who only you will reach.

Before I gained this insight, there were many years when I wondered if I really mattered – if there was anything I could possibly do that would make a difference. The ideal I developed of life as a child was shattered at a young age. I felt abandoned, my voice had been suppressed, and for quite some time I thought that perhaps I had fallen off of God’s radar.

Thankfully, God planted a strong desire in me to do something with my life – to never give up even when I got knocked down. He also planted a desire in my heart to seek Him. These have been persistent desires that would sometimes nag at me while I was devising plans and driving myself toward what I thought I needed to do to survive. It seemed that the further I would run, the more people God would put in my path to point me back to Him.

I’m so grateful that God is a God of second chances … and if my life is any indication, He’s not keeping count. As stubborn as I’ve been, God never gave up on me and He is truly using the experiences of my life – both the beautiful and the ugly – to provide me with my unique purpose and mission. He’s given me opportunities to make a difference for others that bring me so much joy, sometimes I forget about the pain and effort it took to get there. He’s turned all of my crazy messes into a message he can use to give others hope.

Wherever you are in your life journey, I hope you come to know, if you don’t already, that YOU are important to God. My intention is that the musings, experiences and insights I’ll share on this blog not only give you hope that God can still use you – yes, you! – but also the revelation that He is going and has gone to great lengths to show you He loves you, that you matter and that He wants to partner with you in this world. Oh, and He won’t give up. I hope you find inspiration to take one step at a time to discover and walk in the grand purpose God has designed for you so you can live your life as a journey on purpose.

May God bless you abundantly!
